2024 Honda Prologue EV Model, Redesign, Price – Compact crossovers like the 2024 Honda Prologue EV were responsible for the demise of the family sedan, not inattention. Our jury gives the Prologue EV and its competitors high marks; they are comfortable, roomy, and, in the case of the well-liked Honda, relatively fuel-efficient.
The exterior design of the 2024 Honda Prologue EV is conservative, group-tested, and nonoffensive. Even though the interior is improved, there’s not much to hang our hats on.
2024 Honda Prologue EV Redesign
The 2024 Honda Prologue EV Hybrid is available exclusively with all-wheel drive and matching trim options. It is more refined to drive and costs $1,200 than a comparably equipped Prologue EV. Practicality compensates for the Prologue EV’s lack of outgoing personality.
There are more than 40 inches of back seat leg room, making the interior spacious and comfortable for up to five people. The EPA-estimated combined fuel economy for the Prologue EV is 30 mpg with its tiny turbo-4 engine.
Instead of raw power, the 2024 Honda Prologue EV most important quality is a serene ride that isn’t jarred by certain trims’ large wheels. Propulsion is provided by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine, hybrid batteries, and electric motors in the Prologue EV Hybrid. The EPA scores the combination at 38 mpg combined.
When all the rear seats are up, the Prologue EV can accommodate approximately 40 cubic feet of goods; when the seats are folded down, cargo space expands to more than 75 cubic feet thanks to the low load floor and wide hatch. The opposite is true of pickups.
The Prologue EV was deemed a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and received positive feedback from federal testers. Every Prologue EV features life-saving active safety systems, including autonomous emergency braking.
The base Prologue EV has a 5.0-inch LCD for audio that is already out of style and a single USB connector. The EX trim, with or without leather, is our top pick. It has a 7.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, 18-inch alloys, blind-spot monitors, keyless ignition, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, upgraded audio, and more than one USB charging point.
The 2024 Honda Prologue EVV excels with cargo and passengers. “luxury cars” are the only vehicles that can easily transport cargo and up to five people. The 2024 Honda Prologue EV receives above-average marks for its front and back seats, ability to transport passengers, and cargo space. Comfort is rated as a 9. Starting with the EX model and going up, the front seats are better and can be adjusted electrically in 12 different ways.
The view from the front seats is somewhat unobstructed, with clean, thin roof pillars obstructing it far less than the in-laws. Similarly, the low dashboard, high seating posture, and tall-riding height are advantageous in urban environments. The Prologue EV and EX models are upholstered in durable fabric, whereas the EX-L and Touring models include leather upholstery. All models have a large center console and many cupholders, which come in handy when going to a convenience store.
Even the second row is not a scum bin. The broad door holes make the seats accessible to people with hurting knees. Additionally, a three-abreast is permitted; however, the broadest shoulders must be checked at the door. With a large and relatively low load floor, 39.2 cubic feet of space for cargo behind the second seat.
When the back seats are tucked down, the available capacity expands to 75.8 cubic feet, and a carpeted floor panel can be raised to reveal concealed storage space. Due to the Prologue EV’s batteries can only fit 33.2 cubic hoofs of load behind the double row and 68.7 cubic feet with the seats moved forward.
Each Prologue EV is constructed with high-quality plastics and soft-touch materials that feel commensurate with the price. Touring trims fall tantalizingly short of luxury-car quality, but we wouldn’t begrudge the selection against premium-car rivals like Buick or Volvo.
The gas-only powertrain comprises a 1.5-liter turbo-4 engine that generates 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque. It moves through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) to drive the front or, if optionally fitted, all four wheels. The power comes on quickly and early in the rpm range, making going to the city easier.
The CVT tries its best to keep the Prologue EV fuel-efficient, and it does well; most models achieve approximately 30 mpg combined. When appropriately equipped, the turbo-4 can pull up to 1,500 pounds. The gasoline engine that powers the Prologue EV Hybrid is a 2.0-liter inline-four that primarily powers a lithium-ion battery that powers electric motors.
The gasoline engine can engage the clutch to drive the wheels mechanically. However, Honda claims that this occurs infrequently. The net result of the engine and electric engines is 212 horsepower, which is nearly undetectable compared to the gas-only Prologue EV. However, the hybrid’s secret is its fuel economy: the EPA rates it at 38 miles per gallon. The Prologue is only available with an all-wheel drive. The Prologue is a more refined version of the Prologue EV.
The Prologue EV’s 7.8-inch ground clearance is suitable for almost every all-weather condition, snow storms and torrential downpours being the only exceptions. We wouldn’t take the Prologue EV to a boulder field, but the little Honda crossover is more skilled than most buyers will ever need. The Prologue EV’s light steering has a sweet spot that is quite large, which helps it stay more stable in straight lines and at highway speeds.
Also, be aggressive for the Prologue EV ride. Even with 18- and 19-inch wheels, the Prologue EV handles rutted roads well, and the small crossover gives the driver a sense of security that we wouldn’t always find in cars under $30,000.
