2023 Honda HRV Redesign, Models, Price – The 2023 Honda HRV may be a subcompact crossover, but it has a lot to offer. Since the Fit’s Magic Seats debuted nearly two decades ago, compact utility vehicles have been transformed. The groundbreaking Magic Seat design from the first-generation Fit inspired the Japanese automaker to use it in many of its subsequent models.
As part of Honda’s 2016 lineup, the HR-V is the automaker’s entry into the compact crossover segment. Crossover-like bulk and aggressive styling were combined with the best-in-class utility of a Fit. Because crossovers are quickly becoming the norm for most families, this decision makes perfect sense. Because of Honda’s engineering prowess, the HR-passenger V’s and cargo volume are surprisingly large for a vehicle of this size.
2023 Honda HRV Exterior
For as long as the 2023 Honda HRV isn’t noticed, it’s a good thing. There are a few Honda-inspired design cues thrown in for good measure, but otherwise it fits in with the rest of its class. All-new alloy wheels and the sport model’s privacy glass make it a standout.
It’s also only the Sport model of the 2023 Honda HR-V Sport with 18-inch matte black aluminum wheels. 17-inch silver-painted alloy wheels come standard on all other models. Each model comes standard with halogen projector headlights and LED brake and daytime running lights.
The HR-cabin V’s are retro in style, much like the car’s engine. As far as interior design goes, it’s nothing to write home about, but it’s well-thought-out and built to last. The majority of the touch points are covered in soft-touch materials. The rest of the interior is covered in a gray, long-lasting plastic. If at first glance, it appears to be unappealing, its sturdiness is undeniable—even by toddlers. Including the entry-level models, Honda includes the Magic Seat as standard equipment. This is good news for V, one of the most compelling selling points.
Despite the fact that it appears to be compact, it is anything but. The HR-second V’s row has room for two average-sized adults. There is 41.2-inch legroom in the front seats and 39.5-inch headroom. The second-row seats have 39.3 inches of legroom and 38.3 inches of headroom. Rear-seat legroom is significantly better than that of the Hyundai Kona, which has only 35.2 inches. The Honda HR-V is the clear winner when it comes to an SUV that is both fun to drive and comfortable for passengers.
There is only one engine available for the HR-V. A naturally aspirated 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine generates 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. A CVT transmission can send power to either the front wheels or all four wheels, depending on the specific model. At cruising speed, CVTs perform well in both city and highway driving. Although it’s easier to get going with a manual transmission, it’s still not easy.
A CVT needs time to adjust to an increase in speed. When merging onto a highway or passing slower-moving vehicles, the CVT can be a nuisance. The engine revs up and the noise level increases when you slam the accelerator pedal all the way into the carpet. However, the process does not include an increase in speed in the real sense. A lot of work is required to get the car’s speed to match the noise and revolutions it makes. Other cars with CVT transmissions have the same issue, so this isn’t a problem specific to these models.
2023 Honda HRV Release Date and Price
The least expensive 2023 Honda HRV is the LX, which comes standard with front-wheel drive. All trims with an MSRP of $21,420 are subject to a $200 price increase for the 2024 model. The Sport model costs $23,370 when equipped with all of the available options. The EX version of the Honda Sensing-equipped vehicle costs $24,620. The EX-L has full leather trim and starts at $26,220. All-wheel drive costs an additional $1,500 and is available on all HR-V models. The Honda CR-destination V fee is $1,225.
