2023 Honda Pilot Pictures, Exterior, Colors – In the highly competitive midsize SUV market, the Honda Pilot is a popular choice. We’ve always admired the 2023 Honda Pilot for its utility, but its appearance has never wowed us, and the 2023 model is no exception: it appears drooping when compared to the competition. Behind that drab exterior hides a highly powerful vehicle with a 280-horsepower V6 engine and a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic gearbox on all variants.

Honda offers the Pilot in various trim levels, so there is something for everyone at every price point. There are also a lot of regular features. The Pilot starts to have more quality features as it moves up the range, but it can’t compete with the likes of the Kia Telluride. The two entry-level trims- the LX and EX- have been deleted for the 2023 model year in preparation for a new base car offered later and aimed at younger people.

There’s not much to say here, and we believe the Honda Pilot’s look is one of its most severe flaws-it’s been a long time since a facelift. The 2023 Honda Pilot, in classic Honda tradition, has outstanding usability, adequate standard amenities, and competitive fuel efficiency ratings, but opts for conservative design over anything more current. Compared to competitors like the daring Kia Telluride, the Pilot comes across as drab, and its wagon-like side profile doesn’t help its street cred.

The Pilot, on the other hand, is available in a special edition specification that includes a pair of black alloy wheels. The Honda Pilot Black Edition adds even more attitude, but we’re not certain if it’s sufficient. Low-beam LED headlights and LED foglights are standard across the board. All variants come standard with a power sunroof and a motorized tailgate (hands-free above EX-L level). A panoramic roof is available on elite models. Depending on the trim, wheel diameters range from 18 to 20 inches.

You won’t be startled by anything inside the 2023 Honda Pilot’s cabin: it’s all very conventional stuff, but before we get there, it’s worth noting that getting in and out of the Pilot is a breeze thanks to its low ride height and wide-opening doors. When you enter, you’re met with a logical space. Everything is easily accessible, and Honda planned the room with family-friendly ergonomics in mind. The inside isn’t as upscale as the Kia, but there’s a sense of quality throughout the cabin, which is a trademark of Honda. Sitting high up in the front improves the forward view, and overall visibility is excellent. All models have a sunroof, and the highest trims have a panoramic roof, which helps to brighten an otherwise gloomy cabin.

The Pilot is all about maximising internal space; after all, its major job in life will be transporting children and teens to and from school. It also helps that Honda is a master at designing interiors for optimal functionality, with the Touring seating 7 or 8 passengers. Most trim levels include a three-across second-row bench and an 8-seater configuration, but this arrangement is dropped higher in the range in favor of two captain’s chairs. As with other midsize SUVs, the front and second rows favor total room, with the third row best suited to children and small people.

The Honda Pilot will spend most of its life trekking about the suburbs, picking up kids from school, going to the grocery store, and maybe on a few lengthy family vacations, so buyers anticipate a dependable workhorse. With this in mind, Honda chose the tried-and-true mix of an automatic transmission and a high-capacity naturally-aspirated engine that offers reliable power.

The engine is a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 that delivers 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque to either the front or all four wheels with a nine-speed automated gearbox. We’re delighted with how lively this combo feels: the engine provides enough low-down torque while still willing to explore the upper regions of the rpm range. However, we did notice that the transmission may become confused from time to time.

2023 Honda Pilot Price and Release Date

The 2023 Honda Pilot is a terrific deal that is reasonably priced compared to similarly equipped competitors like the Kia Telluride and Toyota Highlander. However, it has nothing to compete with the rivals’ base models until the new base model arrives, which all start in the low $30k area. The basic EX-L variant of the Honda Pilot has an MSRP of $39,060. The Honda Pilot’s costs shown above do not include tax, registration, or a $1,225 destination fee. The Special Edition is the next step forward, costing $39,660. The Touring is priced at $43,620, while the Elite is priced at $49,120. Expect to pay $50,620 for the top-of-the-line Black Edition. Upgrading from FWD to AWD will cost an extra $2,000 on the Honda Pilot.
