New 2024 Honda Odyssey AWD Redesign, Price, Specs – Automobile sales in the U.S. have been negatively affected by crossover and SUV sales, but the minivan industry has also suffered. Chrysler and Honda’s new 2024 Honda Odyssey and Pacifica models have benefited from the decline in Dodge’s Grand Caravan sales since its launch in the late 1990s. Is it still a brilliant idea to drive a minivan? Like the Odyssey, we want a vehicle that understands what it’s doing and isn’t attempting to be something it isn’t.
To stay competitive, Honda has made several changes, the most recent being the introduction of significant improvements to the minivan model. The 2024 model year debuted in July 2024, followed by the 2024 model year in January 2024.
The 3.5-liter V6 engine still produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, but new features have been added. Honda’s main rivals in this class are the Chrysler Pacifica and the Toyota Sienna. The Odyssey is well-equipped to compete with both of these cars in this class, though.
New 2024 Honda Odyssey Exterior
According to us, the Dodge Grand Caravan is obsolete since its manufacturer has stopped making it. In contrast, a box may do a great deal. But 2024 Honda Odyssey, a car that at the very least is aesthetically appealing, disproves this theory. Rearranged headlamps and a new design for the black trim around the back window were introduced in 2024. The recent blackout grille and chrome strip provide a more assertive front end and an attractive side profile. The 19-inch alloy wheels on the top-of-the-line models are a nice change from the standard 18-inch wheels on the entry-level models.
All of the lights on the EX model are LEDs, including the headlights, taillights, and turn signals. The EX and EX-L trims come standard with a power sunroof and tailgate, while the base EX-model can have power sliding doors. The Honda Odyssey’s roomy cabin, which we think is outstanding, will appeal to large families. With a wheelbase of 118.1 inches, it’s only two inches shorter than the longest of the US-market family SUVs. According to Honda, the CR-V has a total length of 205.2 inches. To your delight, you’ve got a substantial back overhang and a small front overhang. Compared to the rest of the lineup’s tallest models, the LX is the shortest, standing at 68.3 inches. There are no exceptions to the 78.5-inch width of any model.
Despite the magnificent design of the Odyssey’s interior, it lacks any feeling of celebration. The ambient lighting nicely illuminates the digital instrument cluster and center console. On the other hand, Honda is more concerned with the amount of room within the vehicle and the vehicle’s overall strength. There is an impression of permanence about the models, although wrapped in fabric or leather. As far as I can see, there are no loose screws or nuts in the vehicle. With so many seats, the car will likely shake.
Because we didn’t hear any vibrations throughout our test drive, it’s clear that Honda has strong standards. Except for the LX, all other models feature eight seats. The Honda Odyssey, an eight-seater, is the best vehicle for big groups. The heated seats on the EX’s front seats are a bonus. The third row of seats in the car is spacious enough for adults to sit comfortably. The headroom in the front, middle, and rear was 40.7/39.5/38.3 inches in the LX and EX models.
Due to the sunroof, the top-of-the-line models had a slightly smaller wheelbase of 38.7/39.5/39.2 inches. All models have 40.9/40.9/38.1-inch legroom. The Odyssey’s large back overhang makes it tough to see out of a minivan. Many new cars on demand now come equipped with a rearview camera and blind-spot monitoring. The vehicle’s big front and rear doors, which glide open to higher trims, make it easy to get in and out. The second row may be moved forward to reveal the third row.
To begin with, the Odyssey’s armor has seen some serious use and abuse. But the 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine from Honda, which delivers 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, is an absolute delight to drive. When it comes to non-turbo engines, this minivan doesn’t feel like it lacks horsepower. No one will feel crowded inside this car, even if eight of them. Both the ten-speed automatic transmission and the manual gearbox are working as they should.
The gearbox’s wide variety of ratios ensures that any situation may be accommodated. In terms of both stability and efficiency, higher speeds are preferable. One of our complaints is the absence of a hybrid engine. In this writing, both the Toyota Prius and the Honda Accord had hybrid variants in their respective price ranges. It makes sense for minivans, which spend much of their time in metropolitan areas, to have a hybrid engine.
